Skies

Description of the sky view at the top of Mt Ruapehu (as shown in the image above), written by 13 year old Stella.

Space is known to be black

But this one’s a hundred shades of blue,

Colours stirred on a palette

Each shade a different mood.

Enveloping earth’s atmosphere

Streaks smear across the page

Two skies blended together.

From smooth to fleecy

Streaks of cotton insulate the air

Like stuffing from my last teddy bear

Everything perfect

Down to each intricate detail

The little specks of wonder

A vast view now surrounds the air

Painted with much care

Ombre colours washed through sky

High above the horizon

It is wondrous and wild

What nature can hold.

Celestial sphere? Or is it art?

Depends where you’re standing
